Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta wants to offload Willian in the summer transfer window, according to The Express. The Spaniard wants to let the former Chelsea winger leave this summer due to his wage of £192,000 per week. Arteta wants to free up wages so that he can bring in other players.
Despite Arteta’s willingness to offload Willian, there is little interest in the 33-year-old Brazil international, who can also play as an attacking midfielder. The former Chelsea star had a disappointing season in 2020-21, and there is also the sense that he is past his prime.
Willian made 16 starts and nine substitute appearances in the Premier League for Arsenal last season, scoring one goal and providing five assists in the process. The winger made three starts and six substitute appearances in the Europa League in 2020-21, providing two assists in the process.
