Arsenal’s bid for Pato rejected

Daily Express has revealed that Arsenal have had an official bid rejected for Corinthians forward Alexandre Pato.

The Brazilian giants hinted last month that Pato could return to Europe in the January transfer window, adding fuel to speculations linking the former AC Milan starlet with a switch to the Emirates.

And the Gunners seem to have already made the first step in their attempt to sign the Brazilian, although they have had a £6.6 million bid rejected by Corinthians.

Arsene Wenger could really use an extra centre forward with Olivier Giroud in desperate need of rest, but it is believed it would take an offer in the region of £10 million to win the chase for Pato.

The 24-year-old has not been able to nail down a regular starting berth since arriving from Milan, although he did well to score 14 goals in 43 league matches for the Brazilian giants.
