Arsenal midfielder Aliaksandr Hleb has revealed he is angered by reports linking him with a move to a number of clubs, according to the Daily Mail.
Reports in Germnay had linked Hleb with a move to Bundesliga winners Bayern Munich. as well as media in both Italy and Spain linking the Belarusian star with moves to major clubs in either country.
However, Hleb, who’s representative last month said it would be a “great honour” to play for Real Madrid, is now denying reports linking him to any club.
Hleb told press: “These reports anger me. I have not signed for Bayern, Barcelona or any other club for that matter.”
“So much is being speculated and said, but I just want to have some peace and sit down with my closest friend (and representative) Niki Spilevski to consider my future.”
Arsenal fans will be relieved to hear that the exit of Hleb is not a forgone conclusion as thought, but the statement remarks an incredible U-turn from what Hleb said a month ago.
Hleb said at the time: “Titles are the most important thing. You can play very well, perhaps the best ever but after the career you ask what you have won.
“To win a title is also the most important thing for me. The clock is ticking but it is simply not happening. It is very difficult. In this year I thought that I would win two titles, but as I said everything went wrong.
“I think I played quite well, even though it could have been better. I am satisfied. Only with the end that we have no title, I am obviously not satisfied.â€Â
“If I’ll go, then only in a different league, in any case, in England, there is only Arsenal for me.â€Â
Hleb’s representative Spilevski later said: “For any player in the world it is always a great honour that a club like Real Madrid is interested in him. Nobody should have any doubts that the interest from Madrid is a privilege for the player.”
Hleb, 27, has often been labelled as “Belarus’ best player ever”, and often plays in the attacking midfield position or on the wing for current club Arsenal. Hleb joined the Gunners for around £10 million from German side VfB Stuttgart in 2005.
