Russia’s star player, Andrei Arshavin, has shown the world of football what they have been missing while he was suspended. The diminutive forward ran the Swedish defence ragged on Wednesday and gave his Russian side a much needed creative spark.ÂÂ
His hard work in the UEFA Cup this season and in the game against Sweden had not gone unnoticed and it is rumoured that a host of European clubs have been linked with Arshavin. Among those clubs is also Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal. And, with this in mind Arshavin, has informed his club, Zenit St Petersburg, that he intends to move onto bigger things this summer, according to Setanta Sports.
However, Zenit St Petersburg manager, Dick Advocaat, sent a warning to his star player, letting him know that not all that is said in the papers is always true.
“Andrei has told us that he wishes to change clubs,†Said Advocaat to Setanta Sports.
“At present in the way of offers it is quiet.
“The situation may well change after tomorrow’s game against Holland for the national side.â€Â
“What is written in newspapers is not always true.â€Â
Arsenal has already bought Samir Nasri and Aaron Ramsey this summer, but with the impending departure of Hleb, Wenger might look to bring some in reinforcements for the attacking department of his squad.
