Mikel Arteta has signed a one-year contract extension at Arsenal, according to the Mirror.
The Gunners captain is the latest in a long list of Arsene Wenger’s squad to commit their immediate future to the North London club after Santi Cazorla, Olivier Giroud, Laurent Koscielny and Tomas Rosicky all put pen to paper in recent weeks.
Arteta moved to the Emirates Stadium from Everton in August 2011, and he has gone on to make one hundred and thirty appearances for the club in all competitions, the latest of which coming in Saturday’s 1-1 draw with local rivals Tottenham Hotspur though he was substituted with a calf injury after just twenty-eight minutes.
The point at the weekend maintained Arsenal’s unbeaten start to the league season, though they will this evening look to avenge the defeat they suffered to Borussia Dortmund in their Champions League opener as they host Turkish giants Galatasaray.
