Arteta would “seriously consider” England

(GSM) – Everton midfielder Mikel Arteta would seriously consider playing for England if manager Fabio Capello decides to give him a call-up.

“I don’t know what (Capello’s) thoughts are,” Arteta told BBC Sport. “If one day the opportunity comes, obviously I would have to consider it very seriously.”

Since Arteta is uncapped for Spain at first-team level, British media have been calling for the 28-year-old’s selection for England after the player was granted an English citizenship this year.

Spain have a wealth of outstanding players in midfield such as Andres Iniesta, Xavi and Cesc Fabragas and it is unlikely that Arteta will get a call-up to his native country’s national team anytime soon.
