Barcelona’s Arthur Melo flew to Turin after Barcelona’s match with Celta Vigo on Saturday to complete a medical ahead of his proposed move to Juventus, according to Sky in Italy. The two clubs have reportedly agreed on a transfer fee of around €80 million for the 23-year-old Brazilian.
Arthur was reluctant, as some reports suggested earlier, to leave the Camp Nou, but after a number of meetings with the club hierarchy, it seems he has been persuaded to join the Serie A champions.
Juventus midfielder Miralem Pjanic has also undergone a medical as he prepares to make the move in the opposite direction, in a deal believed to be in the region of €60 million.
It means the Catalan giants should be earning around €20m from the swap, but on the other hand, they’ll be getting a 30-year-old player in exchange for giving up a seven years younger one. How much sense that makes and whether they’ll actually get something by making this move remains to be seen.
