Arthur Melo is determined to fight for his place at Liverpool following his arrival to Merseyside on a season-long loan from Juventus, despite the recent injury setback.
The 26-year-old midfielder joined the Reds on the final day of the transfer window and apparently wasn’t deemed fit enough to play regularly in the way that manager Jurgen Klopp demands from his players. He therefore worked hard for a long time to raise his fitness levels to the standards required, but just as it was reported he was close, he picked up a muscle injury ahead of the Champions League clash with Rangers at Anfield and it needs surgery to be sorted out. He’s been ruled out for another three to four months.
And while some believe this turn of events practically puts an end to the Brazilian’s chances of staying at Liverpool on a permanent basis – they have the option to make it happen at the end of the season, Arthur himself says he will continue to fight.
“It is now time for me to keep my head up and join forces with my family and do everything I need to with my team to make sure I come back stronger as soon as possible. No obstacle will prevent me from progressing in my career and I have great ambition to show what I can do on the pitch,” Arthur’s Instagram post reads.
