Arthur Melo has informed the directors at both Barcelona and Juventus that he has no intention of leaving the Camp Nou this summer, according to Marca.
Barcelona are aware that they need to shift some players from their squad in order to be able to fund new signings, and Arthur is apparently seen as dispensable. His move to Juventus, as a part of a deal that would see Miralem Pjanic go the other way, seemed very close. But the midfielder’s stance is adamant – he wants to stay put.
Despite Arthur’s previous attempts to make it clear, Juventus kept pushing for the swap to happen, and the Blaugrana chiefs seemed keen on the idea too. Directors Eric Abidal and Ramon Planes had a meeting with the former Gremio player on Tuesday, aiming to convince him to change his mind and accept a move to Turin, but their attempt was unsuccessful.
Arthur believes he fits coach Quique Setien’s plans well and he simply isn’t interested in leaving.
