Torres move could be best for all parties

Liverpool striker Fernando Torres handing in a transfer request came as a slight surprise but the way he has played in the last 12 months it shouldn’t have.

Liverpool rejected the Spaniard’s request for a move and told him he must fulfil his contract.

Offer

Liverpool have already turned down a bid of £35million from Chelsea for the 26 year-old but the champions are expected to come in with a higher bid before the transfer window shuts on Monday.

Depending on what reports that bid could be between £40million and £50million.

That is a hefty amount of money for any club to receive and it looks as though Liverpool may be resigned to losing their star striker, although they are apparently upset that the striker decided to make his feelings public.

Unsettled

For awhile now Fernando Torres has looked disinterested and unsettled. He said in August he was happy at the club and didn’t want to leave the Reds. However his body language and performances have told everybody otherwise.

You don’t have to be a psychologist to know that all is not right in camp Torres. Chelsea have been chasing the striker for awhile and he feels it’s now time to move on from Liverpool. He signed for Liverpool to win the big trophies but at the moment the club aren’t in a position to challenge for those big trophies.

Fans

To Liverpool fans he was a hero and after handing in the transfer request he came in for heavy criticism. A lot Liverpool fans are now saying that the club should let the Spaniard go but only for the right price. Some fans are even saying they are glad to see the back of the striker.

Chelsea

Chelsea are able to offer Torres the chance to win the big trophies like the Champions League. The Blues are slightly off the pace in the race for the Premier League title but if they sign Torres he could be the catalyst for a comeback.

On his day he is one of the most dangerous strikers in the world. Unfortunately he has struggled for form in the last few months. His form has however picked up in recent weeks and he has started to look like his old self again.

Not only would signing Torres help the club’s bid for Premier League glory it would be a signal of intent to their rivals that they really do mean business in the transfer market. And they are still prepared to spend big to gain success.

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is set to take a more active role in the club and he’s set to invest £100million of his own money in the champions if reports are to be believed.

Timing

One of the major obstacles in the way of the deal is the fact that the transfer window shuts tomorrow. The deal will have to be negotiated very quickly and it doesn’t give Liverpool time to sign any new additions.

They have already brought in Luis Suarez from Ajax for a hefty fee but he was expected to be signed as a partner rather than a replacement for the Spaniard. It now looks like he will have to be a replacement.

Summer

If Torres does join Chelsea then whoever the Liverpool manager is in the summer they will have a good transfer kitty to start rebuilding a squad which is in need of strengthening.

I’m sure many Liverpool fans wouldn’t have chosen to sacrifice Fernando Torres for that strengthening but at the moment the move would probably be the best for all three parties involved.

Should Liverpool sell Fernando Torres?

Torres is no villain. In football, there are things that dont work out. And things just didn’t work out at Anfield.

Beckham and Owen were great players until they left for the Bernabeu. Ibrahimovic is a great player that went to Barca and flopped, went on to Milan- he is back where he belongs.

Some things work, some don’t- Its fotball!

Good luck Torres.I think he should go.not becoz of the hefty fee.I wish him good stay at Stamford Bridge but make sure you have the gut to face the Anfield Fans.Liverpool is at the right pace to sign Suarez and Andy Caroll because they are younger than Torres.

CFC Fan, I’d hate to think what’ll happen now that you put it like that. Torres has been CRAP for close to a year I think. around the same amount of time as Rooney. . .

CFC really gets under my skin with their transfers…

LFC will have an amazing attack now with Suarez ready to do whatever he can to score goals and the big Andy Carroll lurking to clean up what Suarez can’t…I would have taken these two over Torres any day.

So fukk Torres…he better produce, but somehow i’m not expecting much. I still don’t rank Chelsea any better or worse than they were yesterday…they are just $50m poorer now…

Of course i’ll sing a different tune if Torres helps Chelsea to win games, but i’m not sold on that being the case right now.

I only foresee that he’ll be injured within two weeks and then it’s back to square one for Chelsea…

I almost can’t bear to watch $50m of Roman’s money being blown this way…but hey, it’s Roman’s…there’s always more where that came from…

    David Villa = $32m
    Samuel Eto = $42m
    Cesc Fabregas = $35m
    Fernando Torres = $50m???

$50m for Torres and what has he done lately? Allowed his club to sink from Big 4 to a little in the middle and he’s breaking transfer records?? This is the LFC main man that let his team down…why should he be any better at Chelsea?

DESPERATE MOVE CHELSEA! IT WILL COME BACK TO HAUNT US AGAIN, just like when Roman wanted pu$$yfoot Shevchenko…that costed us Mourinho…let’s see what happens this time.

It seems as time goes on Torres is losing his interest. Gerrad has been having problems with his performance also. A main reason Torres moved was to have a big name behind him. When one falls they all fall. Another year of bad performance and I will not be suprised if Gerrad wants to move on!

The player’s performance is deteriorating, hence by signing him the blues may regret after he fails to do as per thier expectations

I would like to see Torres in a team that is challenging for honours and then make my judgement.

At Atletico, Torres was unbelievable- but it all changed when he came to Anfield.

I dont think liverpool was the right place for him…but let’s seee how he performs with star midfield at Chelsea.

Torres has been inactive for quite sometime now. He should go if he insists, and be replaced by a more determined individual. I wish him goodluck.

Sell him while he’s worth something! we don’t need him anymore with Suarez coming in. Just push Raul up to Center Forward now that he’s got his scoring boots on and play Stevie and Lucas (or even Spearing) together in the center midfield. Even with doing that you still got Maxi, Kuyt, Jovanovic, and Cole on the outsides. And if Raul isn’t doing well in the center forward you can definitely play kuyt, cole, or gerrard up there as well. case and point: WE DON’T NEED TORRES!
