Ligue 1 side Rennes look set to lose their striker Adama Diakhaby who is edging closer to a move to the French champions AS Monaco.
The Caen academy product and former Tottenham trialist was wanted by Newcastle United as well but the prospect of playing in the Champions League appears to be a determining factor.
French media outlet L’Equipe reports today that Rennes and Monaco have reached an agreement over the €10 million transfer fee and that a deal to sell Adama Diakhaby to Monaco could be concluded before the end of the weekend.
Diakhaby scored four goals in Ligue 1 last season, while also displaying remarkable character and determination.
The 21-year-old French striker is tipped for a successful career and AS Monaco could offer him a chance to shine at the highest level.
AS Monaco are currently going through a difficult summer which has seen them sell a number of first-team players which most notably include Tiemoue Bakayoko, Bernardo Silva and Benjamin Mendy.
At the same time, the club management has made a couple of wise moves in the market boosting the squad by a selection of young and exciting prospects such as Youri Tielmans, Terence Kongolo and Jordi Mboula.
