AS Roma and AC Milan faced off this Sunday in a thrilling Serie A contest where both teams were in dire need of a win. However, only one side managed to take home the three points and that was the home team. Thanks to strikes from Edin Dzeko and Nicola Zaniolo, Roma extended their undefeated league streak to four games. Theo Hernandez scored Milan’s lone strike in this match.

The visitors started the game on a stronger note, though. Rafael Leao was denied by Pau Lopez and Suso had a goal disallowed for offside inside the first 16 minutes. Hakan Calganoglu and Suso also tested the Spain international from the edge of the box. However, Lopez was magnificent to stop them on both cases. It seemed Milan were close to score the opening strike, but in the end, Roma would break the deadlock in the 38th minute.

In what was Roma’s first clear scoring chance of the first half, Edin Dzeko found the back of the net with a header from inside the box past Gianluigi Donnarumma to put the hosts up by one. Javier Pastore came close to even things up at the break, but the Italy international denied him with a stellar save.

Milan started the second half with a more aggressive approach. They found their prize in the 55th minute when Theo struck a low shot past Lopez from the edge of the box. The draw, however, would only last four minutes. Zaniolo gave Roma the lead with a long-range strike that was completely out of Donnarumma’s reach.

Milan did everything they could to secure a late equalizer in the second half. However, the approach didn’t work for them and despite creating chances, they lacked accuracy in the final meters. Calhanoglu even had a chance to equalize on stoppage time, but his free-kick went slight wide off the post.

The visitors did enough to steal at least one point from this fixture. But Roma were much better. That was enough to give them the three points in a tightly contested affair.
