AS Roma seem read to challenge Serie A rivals AC Milan for the signature of Fiorentina midfielder Milan Badelj, according to Il Corriere dello Sport.
The Croatian footballer could be moving clubs in January as he seems reluctant to extend his contract at Artemio Franchi that is due to expire in June 2018.
And while the Rossoneri are believed to be in pole position for his signature, AS Roma have now joined the chase as well.
The Giallorossi boss Luciano Spalletti believes Badelj would be a very good addition to the squad, although he needs to sell one of his current footballers to fund the deal for the Croatia international.
It is believed that talented playmaker Leandro Paredes could be sold in January and he would command a fee in excess of €15 million.
When it comes to Badelj, the 27-year-old clearly wants to be challenging for major trophies and he is unlikely to do that while at Artemio Franchi.
