Serie A high flyers AS Roma hope to keep hold of Dutch midfielder Kevin Strootman, head coach Luciano Spalletti has suggested.
The highly rated footballer has rediscovered his form after returning from a lengthy injury lay-off, and he is now back to being a first team regular for both club and country.
However, Strootman’s current contract with AS Roma is set to expire in June 2018, and he has yet to be offered a new deal.
That could prove to be the problem seeing that Everton, Marseille and few other top clubs are keen on his services, and the Giallorossi coach Luciano Spalletti has made it clear he would prefer to keep the Netherlands international at Stadio Olimpico.
“The presence of Strootman at a club like ours is very important, and it is equally important that the club considers the possibility to continue the adventure with him,” Spalletti told reporters at a press conference.
Everton manager Ronald Koeman appears to be determined to lure Strootman to Goodison Park in January, while former AS Roma boss Rudi Garcia would love to see him at Marseille.
