AS Roma step up chase for Depay

Italian giants AS Roma have chosen Manchester United winger Memphis Depay as a primary target for the January transfer window, Il Corriere dello Sport can reveal.

The Giallorossi plan to further reinforce their front line in the winter due to the fact that star player Mohamed Salah could miss some decisive matches as he is set to represent Egypt at the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations.

And while they were also looking at Sasuolo hotshot Gregoire Defrel, AS Roma officials appear to have decided to make a move on Depay.

The Dutch winger should be available for loan or sale in the January window after seeing his first team opportunities severely limited at old Trafford.

AS Roma boss Luciano Spalletti believes Depay will be able to rediscover the form that saw him become one of Europe’s most sought-after footballers, and he is keen to add the 22-year-old footballer to his ranks as soon as possible.
