AS Roma want to sign Granit Xhaka from Arsenal in the January transfer window, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport. The report in the Italian publication has claimed that Roma head coach Mourinho, a former Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur manager, is still keen on bringing the Switzerland international midfielder to the Stadio Olimpico.
Roma wanted to sign Xhaka from Arsenal in the summer of 2021. Mourinho was keen on the transfer, but the Italian club could not agree on a fee with Premier League outfit Arsenal. Xhaka eventually stayed and also signed an extension to his contract.
Arsenal are in the running for the Premier League top four at the moment and could end up in the Champions League places at the end of the season. Xhaka is an important figure in the team, and it is unlikely that manager Mikel Arteta will sanction an exit now.
