AS Roma want to sign Tottenham Hotspur defender Eric Dier

AS Roma are interested in signing Eric Dier from Tottenham Hotspur in the January transfer window, according to Fichajes. The report has claimed that Roma head coach Jose Mourinho wants to sign a new centre-back and has asked his Italian club to get a deal done for Dier.

Mourinho worked with Dier when he was in charge of Tottenham. The England international, who can also operate as a midfielder, is struggling to get into the Spurs first team. Dier has been playing mainly as a centre-back in recent years. The Englishman has made 270 appearances in the Premier League so far in his career, scoring 12 goals, providing nine assists and keeping 86 clean sheets in those games.

Tottenham are fourth in the Premier League table at the moment with 14 points from six matches, four points behind leaders and defending champions Manchester City. Meanwhile, Roma currently find themselves 14th in the Serie A table with five points from five games, just two points above the relegation zone.
