Germany international winger Gerald Asamoah has admitted that he may look to leave Schalke in the January transfer window if first-team opportunities remain limited.

The 30-year-old has not featured in his club’s opening three games of the new Bundesliga season, with his most recent start coming in February.

Asamoah told Bild: “I’m doing my best to return to full match fitness and convince the coach of my qualities.

“I feel like I still have a future at Schalke, but I could leave the club in the winter if I don’t get regular first-team football.”

The Ghanian born player first played for Hannover 96 before moving to Schalke in 1999, and it now seems he might end his decade old association with the Gelsenkirchen based club.
