According to Spanish outlet Relevo, as later confirmed by Fabrizio Romano, Marco Asensio appears likely to leave Real Madrid at the end of the season as a free agent. The Spain international has turned down the club’s proposal of a new contract, with his current one set to expire next month. Agent Jorge Mendes is handling his business, and several Premier League clubs along with Paris Saint-Germain have been informed on the development.
Real initially signed Asensio from Mallorca in 2015, but he started playing for Los Blancos in 2016 having spent a year on loan with Espanyol. Since then, the 27-year-old has made a total of 285 appearances in the famous white shirt, scoring 65 goals and producing 32 assists, but his place on the right attacking flank has been taken mostly by Rodrygo Goes under Carlo Ancelotti. This season, Asensio has started only 15 La Liga matches of the 36 played so far as Real lost the title to arch-rivals Barcelona.
In the past, Asensio was frequently linked with Liverpool and Arsenal.
