Ashley Cole linked with January exit

Il Corriere dello Sport has learned that English defender Ashley Cole could be leaving AS Roma as early as January.

The former England international joined the Giallorossi this summer on a free transfer from Chelsea, but the latest report suggest he is finding it difficult to adapt to life in Italy.

This is enough to suggest that Cole could be leaving the club in the January window, with MLS his most likely destination.

Roma have already signed another left sided defender as they lured Jose Holebas from Olympiakos, but they also plan to recruit long-term target Davide Santon.

Considering that Ashley Cole and Davide Santon share the same agent, the Giallorossi hope to offload the Englishman and sign the Newcastle star instead.

AS Roma aim to mount a serious title challenge in Serie A this season, and they are 9/4 shot to lift the trophy and end Juventus’ three-year domination.
