(GSM) – Aston Villa’s Ashley Young believes that Saturday’s fixture against Wolves is massive in Aston Villa’s hunt for Champions League football.
Villa currently lies seventh in the Premier League table, just three points adrift of fourth placed Tottenham and with a game in hand.
Young believes the fixture against relegation-threatened Wolves will be difficult for his side but believes they have the right mentality to kick on and fight for a place in next season’s Champions League.
He said: “We know it’s going to be tough. We went to their place earlier in the season. We didn’t have a great performance that day and came out of it with the draw.”
He continued, “But we are full of confidence now and all the lads are looking forward to the game this weekend.”
He is more confident that Villa will climb fourth place in Premier League, “It’s an early kick-off, the fans will be looking forward to it and we’re ready. It’s important to them for different reasons. We’re looking up to try and get into that fourth spot in the league. We want to kick on and go forward.”
Meanwhile, Villa striker John Carew has echoed Young’s statement and insists the club won’t repeat the mistakes of last season, when Villa failed in their battle for Champions League football after a dramatic dip in form towards the end of the campaign.
