Ashley Young eager to join United; Robben wants Milan move

Ashley Young eager to join United

Aston Villa winger Ashley Young is likely to request a summer move to Manchester United, Daily Mail reports.

Manchester United have been keeping tabs on the England international for quite a while now and they have reportedly even had a bid for his services rejected by Aston Villa.

Sir Alex Ferguson is expected to reignite his interest in Young in the summer transfer window and he will be delighted to hear that the player dreams of a move to Old Trafford.

The midfielder has already told his teammates that he would like to join Manchester United and he could hand in a transfer request very soon.

Young’s current deal at Aston Villa expires in June 2012 and after he rejected any talks regarding the new contract, Villa chiefs are likely to be forced to sell him at the end of the season.

Chelsea and Liverpool are also keen on the player, but Manchester United seem to be winning the race as Sir Alex Ferguson is prepared to splash the cash in order to improve his current squad.

United should be able to get Young at a cut-back price considering his contract at Villa expires in just over a year.

Robben wants Milan move

Bayern Munich winger Arjen Robben is keen on summer move to Milan, according to Il Corriere dello Sport.

With Bayern likely to miss out on the Champions League qualification, Arjen Robben is looking to leave the club at the end of the season.

Robben’s good friend Mark van Bommel has moved to Milan in January, quickly becoming a key player for the Rossoneri and Robben is now eager to follow in his footsteps.

The winger has reportedly asked van Bommel to try and persuade Milan chiefs to make a move for him in the summer, but we are yet to see whether the Rossoneri will be interested.

Milan would probably jump at the opportunity to sign such a good player, but the high transfer fee and the fact that the team are pretty strong in attacking positions could be obstacles to the move.

Bayern paid €25 million for the Holland international in 2009 and they might not be willing to settle for any less should they decide to sell him in the summer.

Marseille keeping tabs on Ajax hotshot

Marseille have expressed interest to sign Ajax defender Vurnon Anita as search for Taye Taiwo’s replacement.

The Nigerian defender has already informed the club chiefs of his desire to leave the club when his contract expires at the end of the season, leaving OM short on cover for the left-back position.

The French giants have since singled out Ajax utility player Vurnon Anita as their number one target and they plan to materialize their interest come end of the season.

The player’s agent confirmed that Marseille had enquired for the 21-year-old.

“I have received a phone call from a Marseille representative asking whether Vurnon would be interested in a transfer,” Harry  Lulofs told De Telegraaf

“We are keeping all options open. You don’t turn down a club like Marseille just like that,”.

Despite being a midfielder by trade, Anita has impressed at the left-back position for Ajax this season and there is no doubt he would be a great addition to Didier Deschamps’ side.
