Liverpool will complete the signing of Celta Vigo striker Iago Aspas by the end of the week, ESPN understands.
The Spaniard scored twelve goals in thirty-four La Liga appearances last season, with his side securing their top flight status on the final day of the campaign with victory over Espanyol.
A fee was agreed between the two sides last week, and the 25 year old is expected in England for a medical in due course.
The player has been with Celta since graduating from their youth set up in 2008, and has gone to make a hundred and fifty appearances in all competitions.
Aspas’ arrival will be welcomed by Reds supporters, with uncertainty hanging over the future of both Andy Carroll and Luis Suarez, and with Daniel Sturridge likely to miss the start of the new campaign having picked up an ankle injury on international duty with England last week.
