Blackburn have confirmed that assistant manager John Jensen has left the club after nine months in the post.

The Dane had been Steve Kean’s number two since January and had signed a new one-year contract in March.

A statement on the club’s official website read: “John Jensen is to leave his position as assistant manager with Blackburn Rovers.”

“The club would like to thank John for his efforts over the past nine months and offer him best wishes for the future.”

The 46-year-old Jensen, best known to English fans for his playing spell with Arsenal between 1992 and 1996, has previously spent time as Michael Laudrup’s assistant at Spanish side Getafe and also briefly managed Danish team Randers in 2009.
