Aston Villa 1/1 to beat Bolton and over 2.5 goals in Friday’s Championship clash

Competition: Championship

Market: Aston Villa win and over 2.5 goals

Odds: 1/1 @ Bet 365

Arguably the Championship’s most in from side entering the end of the season, high-flyers Aston Villa will travel to Bolton on Friday afternoon.

Starting with the hosts, coming off the back of another very worrying display in their 4-0 hammering away at Derby last weekend, Bolton are within touching distance of dropping down to League One. Amidst a string of issues both on and off the pitch, Phil Parkinson’s side have lost their last three matches on the bounce and now sit eight points adrift of safety. Also enduring a run of form that has seen them pick up just a single victory at the Macron Stadium since Boxing Day, Bolton’s major issue has come defensively this season. Holding the worst defensive stats in the Championship, Friday’s hosts have shipped two or more goals in five of their last six outings.

As for the visitors, picking up a very impressive 2-1 win at home to fellow playoff contenders Bristol City last time out, Aston Villa are enjoying a stellar run of form. On the verge of securing yet another spot in the playoffs, Dean Smith’s side are enjoying an eight-match winning run and their form in the final third has really started to catch the eye. Led by Chelsea loanee and leading goalscorer Tammy Abraham, the Villans have scored two or more goals in each of their last six encounters, a run that stems back to the start of March. Picking up a 2-0 win when the two sides met earlier in the season, we’re backing another comfortable afternoon for Smith’s side.
