Aston Villa 11/8 to beat Blackburn and over 2.5 goals in Saturday’s Championship showdown

Competition: Championship

Market: Aston Villa win and over 2.5 goals

Odds: 11/8 @ Bet 365

Two sides enduring a very different run of form at the back end of the season, Blackburn will travel to a revitalized Villa Park on Saturday afternoon.

Starting with this weekends hosts, coming off the back of a very eye-catching 3-0 win over fellow playoff contenders Middlesbrough prior to the international break, the mood in Aston Villa’s camp is the highest it has been since Dean Smith arrival. Now enjoying a four-match winning run in the Championship and reclaiming their spot in the top six, it has been the Villans’ ongoing form in the final third really spearheading their promotion charge. Scoring two or more goals in each of their previous victories, the former Brentford boss has also seen his side score seven goals in just their last two matches at Villa Park.

As for the visitors, while Villa might be enjoying a purple patch at the back end of the campaign the same cannot be said for Tony Mowbray’s visitors. Slumping to another worrying display in their 4-2 hammering away at Sheffield Wednesday prior to the international break, Blackburn have freefallen down the table and their form on the road will be a huge concern for fans around Ewood Park. Mowbray’s men have failed to win any of their last five matches outside of Lancashire, losing four of those contests. However, and more worrying for Saturday visitors, they have conceded two or more goals in each of their last five matches on the road.
