Aston Villa 15/8 to beat Hull in Mondays Championship clash

Competition: Championship

Market: Aston Villa win

Odds: 15/8 @ Bet 365

Looking to put their heartache of last seasons play-off final behind them, Championship powerhouses Aston Villa will be hoping to push on from an impressive pre-season when they travel to Hull on Monday night.

Starting with the hosts, after another difficult year in the Championship last season saw them flirting with relegation for the majority of the campaign, Nigel Adkins’ side appear to have carried on their poor form during pre-season. Although they have added a handful of new additions to their squad this summer, The Tigers are coming off the back of a 1-1 draw with Barnsley and they have now failed to win any of their final four pre-season outings. Highlighted by a 4-1 loss to Braga and a 1-0 defeat to lower league Rochdale, many around the KCOM Stadium feel this could be another tricky year.

As for Villa, although constant speculation surrounding financial issues off the pitch and the future of boss Steve Bruce, The Villans have enjoyed an impressive pre-season. With it now new investment found and their transfer lifted earlier in the week, the visitors are free to splurge in the market and have also managed to keep talisman Jack Grealish despite being heavily linked to Tottenham. Aside from a 3-1 loss to Premier League big spenders West Ham, Villa are coming off the back of a 2-1 win over Dynamo Dresden and have won their other pre-season appearances. Tipped by many to once again book a playoff spot, last years playoff finalists should be confident of coming away with a win on Monday.
