Aston Villa host Stoke City this afternoon with both sides locked on points around in 10th & 11th respectively. The Villans do have a game in hand on their opponents this afternoon which could see them open up a six point gap should they beat Stoke today and win their following game in hand.

As a result, Betfair are giving odds of 7/4 for the Midlands outfit to finish in the top-10 of the Premier League, which would be the first time since 2011 that Villa have finished the season 10th or higher – with their finish in the 2010/11 season being 9th place with 48 points.

But their recent form is certainly confounding their critics, with Paul Lambert’s men having taken seven points from their last four. They are favourites to beat Stoke City at Villa Park which would see them with 37 points from 30 games – seven points better off than this time last season.

Their home form is much-improved, and as they will consider themselves more than capable of getting the three points this afternoon, they will be nailed on to finish 10th or above come May.
