According to Fabrizio Romano, Aston Villa are in talks with Paris Saint-Germain over a potential transfer of Marco Asensio.
Villa have accepted an offer from Saudi side Al-Nassr for the services of Jhon Duran, and the 21-year-old striker is set to undergo a medical preceding the move, leaving a vacant spot in the attacking section of Unai Emery’s squad. The Villa boss is resigned to losing Duran and has urged the club to reject any offers for Ollie Watkins, who is of strong interest to Arsenal.
It seems Asensio is the first-choice candidate to fill the vacancy left by Duran’s imminent departure, and the former Real Madrid attacker is believed to be keen on the idea of moving to the Premier League. Starting most matches on the bench for PSG this season, he has managed just two goals and four assists in 16 appearances in all competitions for the Ligue 1 champions.
Another option for Aston Villa to strengthen their ranks is Chelsea’s Joao Felix.
