Aston Villa manager Gerard Houllier has confirmed that he is keen to bring in Lyon midfielder Jean Makoun in the January transfer window.
Lyon are reportedly looking for around £7million for the Cameroon international, something that could be too high for the Premier League side.
“What is the position with Makoun? There is dialogue going on at the moment,” admitted Houllier.
“But the price is too high and we’ll do what is right for the club.”
Houllier has also recently hinted that midfielder Stephen Ireland could make a return to his plans for the future at Villa Park.
“I still believe Stephen has got great ability. Sometimes it takes more time to settle into a new team,” added Houllier.
