Aston Villa consider Pochettino as Gerrard replacement

Aston Villa are currently considering the possibility of making an audacious attempt to bring in Mauricio Pochettino in case they decide to part ways with manager Steven Gerrard, according to The Telegraph.

Villa have made some strong investments into the team in the last 18 months, seeking to improve their results and close the gap towards the top of the Premier League table. However, this season things haven’t been going well for Gerrard and his men, who sit 16th at the moment and are obviously too close to the relegation zone. They face a crucial period now, as they prepare to face Fulham away, Brentford at home and Newcastle away in the next two weeks.

Meanwhile, Pochettino has been out of work since his sacking from Paris Saint-Germain in July this year. He has recently rejected an offer from OGC Nice, but at Villa they hope that a potential return to the Premier League, where he spent almost seven years managing Southampton and Tottenham Hotspur, would be more tempting for the 50-year-old Argentine tactician.
