Aston Villa are interested in signing Kieran Trippier from Atletico Madrid in the summer transfer window, according to The Telegraph. The Villans want to sign a new right-back this summer, and the Premier League club have identified the 29-year-old England international as a potential transfer target.
Trippier has been on the books of Atletico since the summer of 2019 when he moved from Tottenham Hotspur for a transfer fee reported by BBC Sport to be worth £20 million. The 29-year-old right-back made 23 starts and two substitute appearances in La Liga for Atletico this past season, providing four assists in the process, according to WhoScored. The England international also provided one assist in six Champions League matches for the Madrid outfit, according to WhoScored.
Atletico regularly finish in the top four of the La Liga table and play in the Champions League, while Villa just about managed to stave off the dreaded drop from the Premier League to the Championship at the end of the past season.
