Aston Villa lead McKennie race

According to a recent report from Gazzetta dello Sport, Aston Villa are now leading the race to sign Weston McKennie.

The Juventus midfielder has been the source of great speculation heading into the January transfer window and now that it’s here, there are plenty of guesses flying around regarding where he’ll end up.

Just yesterday, the American star reportedly turned back Premier League side Bournemouth with his intention being to hold out for a move to Tottenham or Chelsea. Alas, with both of those clubs struggling and Villa being on the rise, they may be able to offer him the right kind of deal to stay.

McKennie has been pinpointed as a top talent for a long time now but actually following through on that, in the eyes of some, may require him to head to England’s top flight.

If he does, you can bet he’ll be in for a baptism of fire.
