Aston Villa are showing interest in Twente centre-back Douglas Franco Teixeira, Voetbal International reports.
The Brazilian defender is expected to leave the Tukkers for greener pastures in the summer and it appears that English Premier League will be his next destination.
First Newcastle expressed their interest in the highly rated defender and now Aston Villa have joined the race as well.
According to Voetbal International, the Villains have emerged as favorites to sign the Twente star.
The Villa Park outfit are not only prepared to meet Twente’s valuation of the player, but they are also ready to grant the player’s wish and delay the transfer for the final days of the summer transfer window.
The player needs to stay in Dutch Eredivisie until 28th August in order to obtain Netherlands passport and that is the main reason why he wants to leave only after that date.
Twente chiefs are also prepared to grant the player’s wish as they are aware a Dutch passport can only increase his price in the transfer market.
