Aston Villa are set to reignite their interest in Liverpool defender Joe Gomez at the end of the season, according to Football Insider.
Gomez has only played in 13 matches in all competitions this term, starting only five times, and he is currently struggling to break into the team with Joel Matip and Ibrahima Konate sharing his preferred role in the heart of defence alongside Virgil van Dijk.
Villa boss and former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard reportedly wanted his current employers to sign the 24-year-old in January. However, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp wouldn’t hear of it at the time, obviously realizing that squad depth is extremely important for his team which is still competing on four fronts.
Gomez’s services were needed in the 3-1 win over Norwich City on Saturday, though the 11-cap England international actually stepped in to cover for Trent Alexander-Arnold, starting on the right defensive flank as Klopp rested both fullbacks.
