Robin Olsen is set to join Aston Villa from AS Roma in the coming days, according to Fabrizio Romano. The clubs involved, including Sheffield United where the goalkeeper spent the first half of the season on loan, are in total agreement over the transfer, and the goalkeeper is scheduled to undergo a medical today (Tuesday).
The 32-year-old’s move to Villa Park will also be on a temporary basis, and he’ll remain contracted to Roma until the summer of 2023.
Having gone through the youth ranks at several clubs in Sweden, Olsen played for Malmo, PAOK Salonika in Greece, and FC Copenhagen in Denmark, before joining Roma in 2018. He’s already been on loan at Everton since, and joined the Blades last summer. This season, Olsen has made 11 Championship appearances, conceding 17 goals and keeping just one clean sheet.
The personal terms between the 53-cap Sweden international and Aston Villa have already been agreed. Olsen is expected to act as a backup option for the regular No. 1 at Villa, Emiliano Martinez.
