Aston Villa to try again for Bissouma after seeing January bid rejected

Aston Villa manager Steven Gerrard has confirmed that the club had an offer for Yves Bissouma rejected by Brighton and Hove Albion in January, and according to The Telegraph, they’re set to try to sign the midfielder again at the end of the season.

Villa apparently offered £25 million for the services of the midfielder, whose contract with the Seagulls expires in 2023. However, Brighton obviously didn’t deem that amount to be enough, with Bissouma reportedly being of interest to clubs such as Liverpool, Manchester United and Arsenal.

Nonetheless, Gerrard has identified the 25-year-old as the right man to come into his ranks in the middle of the park. Having signed players like Phillippe Coutinho on loan from Barcelona, left-back Lucas Digne from Everton and versatile defender Calum Chambers from Arsenal, the former Rangers boss says he is very happy with the support he has received from the Villa board so far.
