Aston Villa working on Lo Celso transfer

According to Fabrizio Romano, Aston Villa are pushing to sign Giovani Lo Celso this summer.

The Argentinian midfielder is currently playing for Villarreal, on his second loan there from Tottenham Hotspur. He is well known to Villa boss Unai Emery, who coached him at the La Liga side before leaving to take charge at Villa Park in November last year. Counting both his spells there, through nearly a season and a half, Lo Celso has made a total of 47 appearances in all competitions, scoring twice and contributing four assists.

As things stand, the 27-year-old should return to North London at the end of the season, with his contract there running for two more years, but Villa, who may yet qualify for a European competition for 2023/24, are keen to add him to their ranks as they seek to build on the excellent campaign they’ve had since Emery’s arrival.

Apparently, Lo Celso is interested in joining Aston Villa, but he’s still waiting to see who will become the new Spurs boss ahead of next season.
