Lazio have reignited their interest in Cagliari defender Davide Astori, Il Corriere dello Sport has revealed.
The Biancocelesti officials have been working hard on reinforcements for the 2014/2015 season and they are reportedly closing in on Dusan Basta and Marco Parolo, while the club are also set to purchase the remaining half of Antonio Candreva’s contract.
At the same time, Lazio plan to add a quality central defender to their ranks, with Stefan de Vrij and Davide Astori reportedly on their radar.
The Biancocelesti have made the Feyenoord starlet their number one priority, but having failed to agree a transfer fee with the player’s employers, they look set to turn their attention to Astori.
Lazio have had a €5 million bid rejected for the Italy international, but president Claudio Lotito hopes to take advantage of Cagliari’s financial problems and secure the signature of one of league’s best defenders this summer.
