Looking to cash in on Udinese’s troubles in midweek, Atalanta will make the trip to the Dacia Arena on Wednesday afternoon.

Starting with the hosts, throwing away the lead late on away at Sampdoria over the weekend, it was a similar sluggish performance for Udinese. Continuing on what has been a worrying run of form on either side of Italy’s festive break, I Bianconeri have freefallen down the Serie A table and are certainly enduring their worst run of the season so far. Rather drastically struggling to match their eye-catching start to December, Luca Gotti’s men are without a top-flight victory since the 12th of December. Coming off the back of back-to-back defeats over the past nine days and with a growing reputation for their issues at the back, Udinese have also mustered just a single point from their last five Serie A contests on the spin. Firmly looking over their shoulder at the drop zone, Gotti’s men should face a stern test in midweek.

As for the visitors, eventually having to settle for a point against a rugged Genoa over the weekend, there is no doubt that Atalanta should be smelling a golden chance to make an immediate return to winning ways. Managing to book their spot in the knockout stage of this year’s Champions League and with a showdown against Spanish giants Real Madrid on the cards for next month, La Dea have gained a string of admirers on either side of the festive break. Despite seeing their winning run come to an end on Sunday, Head Coach Gian Piero Gasperini finds his side enjoying an 11-match unbeaten run across all formats, a run that stems back to November 28th. Winning each of their last five straight meetings against Udinese, including that stunning 7-1 romp last season, we’re backing an away victory on Wednesday afternoon.
