Having gone two years without making any additions to their squad, Athletic Bilbao are preparing to make a couple of moves in the winter transfer market.
The Basque side have a very unique transfer policy being that they only target footballers born, raised or in any other way connected to their autonomous community and this time the club set sights on forward Igor Angulo and Cristian Ganea.
The 33-year-old Angulo started his career with Athletic Bilbao and is currently playing for Polish Gornik Zabrze. After a decade gone by, the Basque side are now keen on a reunion and Marca claims the contact has already been made.
Los Leones are also looking to make defensive reinforcements and have identified the 25-year-old Romanian left-back Cristian Ganea as another January target.
Although he was born in Romania, the Vitorul Constanta footballer was raised in the Basque town of Basauri where he made his first football steps for Indartsu and Euskadi. With this in mind, Ganea’s incorporation within the team would not go against the club’s philosophy and Athletic Bilbao are said to be already working on a €600,000 January deal.
