According to AS, Alaves winger Ibai Gomez is attracting the attention of many clubs – with Athletic Bilbao leading the charge. The 29 year old has gotten off to a great start in La Liga this season, and has been an instrumental figure behind Alaves’ fantastic rise towards the top of the table. Of course, these kind of performances were always going to draw attention from around Europe, although Bilbao aren’t the only club who are interested.
Leicester City and Leeds United are also looking into the possibility of signing him, with the latter being particularly interested. Leeds currently play their football in the Championship, and the fact that they seem to be in with a chance of making this deal happen speaks volumes for the current landscape of transfers in football.
Athletic Bilbao are still the frontrunners but Gomez seems to be the kind of player who would be open to something different, with the King Power Stadium and Elland Road certainly fitting the bill in that regard.
