La Liga giants Athletic Bilbao are readying an ambitious bid for three high-profile players of Basque origin, according to El Mundo Deportivo.

El Mundo Deportivo has suggested that Athletic are keeping close tabs on Real Madrid midfielder Asier Illarramendi, who has struggled for playing time at Santiago Bernabeu.
Athletic hope to sign the former Real Sociedad footballer on loan until the end of the season, and the 24-year-old appear to be interested in such an arrangement.
Meanwhile, los Leones are also monitoring the situation regarding Arsenal players Mikel Arteta and Nacho Monreal, with a view of stepping up their interest in the summer transfer window.
