Competition: MLS
Market: Atlanta United win
Odds: 11/10 @ Bet 365
Looking to extend their advantage at the top of the Western Conference, high-flying Atalanta United will travel to the Stade Saputo to face off against playoff hopefuls Montreal on Sunday.
Starting with former Aston Villa manager Rémi Garde’s Montreal side, despite a poor start to the new year saw them lost eight of their nine MLS outings, The Impact valiantly battled back and after winning six of their nine between June and July, the hosts have played their way into the playoff positions. However, coming off the back of a 2-0 loss away to Vancouver, Montreal are without a win in their last two and have shipped two in both defeats, while they have improved, coming up against a high-flying Atlanta side will be an incredibly tough task.
As for Atlanta, former Barcelona boss Gerardo Martino has enjoyed a stellar start to his tenure at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Coming off the back of a 3-1 win over DC United last time out, they have now lost just one in their last six and sit top of the table in the West. One man to watch for Atlanta is MLS topscorer Josef Martinez, already with 22 league goals this season and sitting eight goals clear of Red Bull’s Bradley Wright-Phillips, the 25-year-old scored a hat-trick against DC last time out and is attracting interest from across Europe.
