With the US Open crown up for grabs in the early hours of Wednesday morning, Eastern leaders Atlanta United will welcome Minnesota to the Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

Starting with the hosts, while the defending MLS champions may have struggled to adjust to life under Frank de Boer at the start of the new MLS campaign, Atlanta have really started to refind their form. Once again reclaiming their spot at the top of the Eastern Conference, the former Crystal Palace boss has seen his side enjoy a six-match winning run and their form in Georgia will be impressing many around the Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Atlanta are unbeaten on home soil in their last 14 matchups, a run that stems all the way back to the 20th of April.

As for the visitors, while a stellar run of form entering August did see Minnesota make a charge up the Western Conference, Adrian Heath’s men have shown some signs of a struggle of late. Suffering a 1-0 loss away at Sporting KC over the weekend, United have recorded just one win in their last four attempts and their form on the road will be a growing concern for fans around Allianz Field. Losing back-to-back matches outside of Minnesota, including shipping five away at Dallas earlier in the month, Wednesday could prove to be another tough test for Heath’s men.
