MLS newcomers Atlanta United have announced yet another high-profile signing ahead of their maiden season in the top flight.
Using Targeted Allocation Money, the MLS side have acquired the services of Chilean midfielder Carlos Carmona, who joins from Serie A high-flyers Atalanta.
The 29-year-old spent the majority of his professional career in Italy, representing Reggina and Atalanta, making 155 appearances in Italy’s elite division.
But, having featured in just two league games this season before picking up a serious injury, Carmona was allowed to embark on a new challenge.
The Chile international is the second footballer to join Atlanta United from Serie A in last seven days, following in the footsteps of former Torino striker Josef Martinez.
The MLS new boys have been quite busy in the current transfer window, adding the likes of Greg Garza, Kenwyne Jones, Tyrone Mears and Jeff Larentowicz among others, while agreeing a summer deal for Brad Guzan.
