Atletico admit interest in Turkish goal-machine

Atletico Madrid have admitted interested in Trabzonspor striker Burak Yilmaz, one of the most prolific forwards in world football.

Los Colchoneros are delighted with the impact former Galatasaray midfielder Arda Turan has had since he arrived to Vicente Calderon and they are now looking to sign another Turkish player.

Speaking to Turkish news agency Anadolu Ajansi, Atletico Madrid sporting director confirmed reports that the club are interested in Trabzonspor forward Burak Yilmaz.

“Yes, Atletico are interested in all good players, there are many of these in Turkey and we are open to all options.

”It is a front that is open, just like others.”

Burak Yilmaz started his career at Besiktas and went on to play for Manisaspor, Fenerbahce and Eskisehirspor before arriving to Trabzonspor in January 2010.

The 26-year-old managed to score 19 league goals in his first full season at Huseyin Avni Aker Stadyumu, but it is this season that he managed to realize his full potential.

Yilmaz has been in unbelievable scoring form this term, having scored 30 goals in 25 league games and he is on road to break the all-time record for a number of goals in one league campaign, which is held by Tanju Colak, who scored 39 goals in 37 matches.
