Atletico Madrid have reached an agreement to sign River Plate hotshot Matias Kranevitter, AS has learned.
Los Colchoneros will pay €8 million for 70 percent of the player’s economic rights, with the 22-year-old signing a four-year deal that will contain a €40 million release clause.
Kranevitter is already on his way to Spain, but he will also head to Italy to obtain his EU passport before arriving at Vicente Calderon.
However, Atletico have agreed to let the player remain with River Plate until the Club World Cup that takes place in December, meaning he will be moving to Spain on permanent basis next January.
Matias Kranevitter has already established himself as one of the leading footballers in Argentina’s top flight and he has amassed 54 league appearances for the Millionaires.
He made no less than 13 outings as River Plate claimed the Copa Libertadores trophy earlier this summer, proving his worth in the highly rated continental competition.
