Spanish daily newspaper AS has revealed that Atletico Madrid are hot on the trail of Red Star striker Luka Jovic.
The Serbian club chief Zvezdan Terzic has suggested that los Colchoneros made a €2.5 million offer for the 16-year-old footballer, but the bid was swiftly rejected.
In spite of the serious financial problems, Red Star chiefs are eager to keep hold of the talented forward for another year and then hopefully sell him for some €8 million.
Atletico Madrid were not put off by the response from Serbia and they continue to keep close tabs on one of country’s hottest prospects.
Luka Jovic scored a goal on his debut for the senior side in the final round of previous league campaign before making another two substitute appearances this season.
He is already a member of Serbia Under-19 side and has scored one goal in three matches at the Under-19 European Championship in Hungary earlier this summer.
