Atletico Madrid are weighing up move for Osasuna goalkeeper Andres Fernandez, AS has revealed.
Having sold Joel Robles to Everton, los Colchoneros plan to sign a new goalkeeper this summer and they have set their sights on Osasuna’s Andres Fernandez.
The 26-year-old is not only seen as a good understudy for Thibaut Courtois, but would eventually take over from the Belgian when he returns to Chelsea.
Fernandez has a €9 million release clause in his contract, but Atletico plan to lower the asking price by including Sergio Asenjo in the deal.
The former Spain Under-21 keeper has utterly failed to prove his worth at Vicente Calderon, but Osasuna might be interested in offering him a lifeline.
Meanwhile, Atletico are wrapping up the signing of Martin Demichelis on a free transfer from Malaga, while they have earlier produced a major coup by signing David Villa from Barcelona. Leo Baptistao, Jose Gimenez and Hector Hernandez have also arrived.
